Our instructors/coaches have completed a stringent and extensive training program. This is an on-going process and our instructors/coaches go through a continual certification and re-certification process. We make sure each of our instructors/coaches understand any current trends or techniques and are aware of new drills that may be used with a particular student. We use a lot of technology and you can expect nothing less than our commitment to always bring you an exceptional learning experience by instructors with a passion for excellence, and to deliver the highest quality and consistent level of personal care and attention by the world’s best certified instructors/coaches.
Our instructors/coaches teaching skills are scrupulously critiqued and tested to evaluate their ability to recognize and apply the appropriate instructive practices and techniques to each and every student. We are able to tweak a good swing or build a swing from the ground up as needed. We believe in teaching the fundamentals in building a proper set-up, an efficient swing and pre-shot routine. We do not use a cookie-cutter approach, meaning cliches, bromides and quick fixes or patch jobs that never improve anyone. We teach a sound system based on geometry and physics.We believe in the uniqueness of the individual golfer and our teaching philosophy is based on working with your individual skills and talents.
Golf may be the most difficult of all games to learn. As such, whether you are new and just learning the game or trying to improve the game you have, a certified TGA golf instructor is invaluable. Swinging a golf club properly is almost just the opposite of what most people think! That makes the game as much a science as much as a game. A better understanding of the laws of golf and the geometry and physics involved is critical to your success.
Advice by your well meaning friends can often cause confusion, frustration and a zillion swing thoughts. You end up with 6 to 10 swing thoughts and arrive at the state of paralysis from over-analysis. The most efficient learning cycle is where you are taught in stages, with the right information, in the right order and at the right time. Our TGA certified instructors take the complexity and reduce it to a series of simple, repeatable, steps.
Golf is tricky and has many difficult concepts. If you don’t understand the concept, you will practice incorrectly. It is far more difficult to change a habit then to change a newly acquired skill. A TGA coach’s instruction will help you gain a clear understanding so you are able to practice successfully to improve. Bob Grissett – Director of Instruction

In pursuit of mastering the techniques used by top Touring Professionals I have spent a lifetime in study and tutorship under some of the greatest teachers the game has known: Andy Plummer, Michael Bennett, David Leadbetter, Byron Nelson, Bob Toski, Mitchell Spearman, Jack Grout, John Geertson, Wild “Bill” Mehlhorn and many others. I have always had a passion for teaching the game of golf and that passion inspired me to become the best instructor possible. I have read or studied almost every golf instruction book ever written. I have given over 50,000 lessons to players of all skill levels including the legendary “Moe Norman”. I have been involved in all aspects of the game: I was a player and played on the PGA Tour, I was a co-founder of Zevo (custom golf clubs), I was Director of Instruction at some of the finest teaching facilities in the USA including four GolfTEC Training facilities, The Golf Academy/LA and many others. I have been a Golf Professional since leaving college, first as a player then as an instructor coach. Golf instruction has changed tremendously over the years.
I think the bulk of the basic teaching methods being taught has made improvement too difficult and the entry level to the game too high. That may account for the fact that the average handicap has not changed in the past few decades. So what's missing?

The game of golf has been my passion for the past 17 years. I've been a golf professional and teaching professional for the last 7 years. I started my teaching career in Long Beach at Skylinks G.C. and ultimately moved into a teaching position with GolfTEC in West Los Angeles. I was able work with motion sensors and high speed video which significantly enhanced my teaching abilities. I've been fortunate to work for and study under Bob Grissett for the past 5 years, in which time I have brought my teaching skills to a new level. I've have given over 7000 lessons in the past year to players of all levels; from beginners to Tour Players.
I am excited about the opportunity to be associated with The Golf Academy/LA and I look forward to working with all the new cutting-edge technologies we offer everyday. Our abilities to analyze a player’s swing and prescribe the correct golf specific fitness regimen with the advantage of the latest state-of-the-art training aids and drills makes The Golf Academy/LA unique in the World of Golf.

Brian Creghan - Authorized Stack & Tilt® Instructor |
Brian began studying the golf swing in 2006 under the tutelage of PGA Tour based instructors Andy Plummer and Mike Bennett, architects of the Stack & Tilt® system. As Brian’s game improved, his teammates and peers began asking him questions. Watching his friends improve rapidly under his guidance was extremely gratifying and led Brian towards a career in golf instruction. Over the past several years, Brian has assisted with instruction at numerous golf schools run by his mentors, Plummer and Bennett, working with golfers at every level. Brian has also been fortunate enough to walk inside the ropes with Plummer and Bennett at several PGA Tour events to observe and supervise practice sessions with players such as Brad Faxon, Grant Waite, and Dean Wilson.
Brian was born and raised in the suburbs of Philadelphia, PA. He ventured to warmer climates to play collegiate golf under Hall of Fame Coach, Jack Jensen at Guilford College in Greensboro, NC. Brian received numerous laurels while at Guilford, including CoSIDA 2nd Team Academic All-America® and PING 2nd Team All-American honors after a top-10 finish at the Division III National Championship in 2010 (in which Guilford finished 2nd as a team, losing to Methodist University by just 1 stroke).
Brian teaches at Calabasas Country Club, which is conveniently located just off the 101 freeway in Calabasas, easily accessible from downtown Los Angeles, Santa Monica, Thousand Oaks, and the entire San Fernando Valley.
