zenoLink Golf Swing Biomechanics

zenoLINK is a diagnostic tool designed to provide information about functional performance during a specific activity. Data produced by zenoLINK testing quantifies both performance and injury potential through biomechanical measurements that include joint ROM, body segment coordination and outcome parameters. The ability to improve golf swing performance and better treat golf swing injuries lies in the LINK between physiology and golf swing technique. That LINK is biomechanics. zenoLINK uses 3-D motion analysis technology to measure golf swing biomechanics and objectively quantify performance.

The Golf Academy by The Sports Club/LA is very excited to team up with industry biomechanics expert Chris Welch. In our Maximum Swing Performance Screen all visitors to the Academy have an opportunity to get a complete analysis using the zenoLINK 3D analysis software.

How it Works

The entire process is simple and completely non-invasive. Swings are filmed using high speed video cameras. The video is then sent to the zenoLINK biomechanics lab for processing and analysis. At zenoLINK the 2-D video is transformed into 3-D motion data which is then converted into a full anatomical representation of the golfer performing the golf swing. Biomechanics are calculated and a swing analysis is performed on the 3-D anatomical representation.

Information it Provides

Once the data is fully analyzed, it provides your TGA Golf Coach and your SCLA Golf Fitness Trainer with a wealth of information. Golf swing coordination is assessed by mapping movement patterns and overall performance is quantified through a comprehensive set of biomechanical parameters. zenoLINK creates a "performance profile", which provides an in-depth and objective summary of swing mechanics and allows your coach to analyze the relationship between physical attributes and overall swing performance.

Ultimately, zenoLINK tells your coach exactly how your body moves during a golf swing. This allows them to objectively assess where biomechanical break down in the movement pattern creates compensation and how that compensation affects golf swing performance.

zenoLINK Kinematic Sequence. There is an identical sequence of speed or energy generation for all great ball strikers. That sequence is lower body first (Hips - red line), trunk or torso second (blue line), arms third (green line), and the club head last (black line). This sequence occurs during the downswing.

Each segment of the body builds speed off the previous segment, increasing speed up the chain. (Red is less than blue, which is less than green, which is less than black). Each segment of the chain slows down once the next segment begins to accelerate. Think of a handle of a whip. The first thing you do is accelerate the handle of the whip to generate speed then you rapidly decelerate the handle to transfer speed to the tip part of the whip.
